Hello everyone, I'm back with another advertisement review, i.e; 5 Star Ad - Do Nothing #Eat5StarDoNothing. In this article I'll also be adding most commonly asked questions like does this ad affected sentiments of the people? and specially my views on Eat 5 Star Do Nothing.
Lets us start our analysis of 5 star ad campaign that was launched on 25th of December by Cadbury which is also conceptualized by Ogilvy India Advertisement agency. Also read the Fevicol 60 Years of advertisement review here!
So, the ad starts with an old lady sitting on roadside bench and suddenly her stick fell out. She asks a young boy who is eating 5 star chocolate bar to pick it up. To which the boy replied to "Ji Maaji" (meaning Ok, I'll pick it up) but to her surprise the young boy didn't picked the stick and was lost eating chocolate. So the old lady decided to pick up the stick herself. Now comes the twist, as she gets up to pick her fallen stick a grand old piano fell on the same place the old lady was previously sitting on. Old lady got surprised. To which she thanked the boy for not picking up her fallen stick by telling - "Thank you beta, achha hua tumne kuch nahi kiya". And the boy replied "most welcome maa ji" and the ad abruptly ends with the saying #kabhi_kuch_na_karke_bhi_dekho.
So with this advertisement the company is actually trying to target young generations by saying "those who east 5 star get lost in the its taste" as the boy can be seen lost in eating chocolate.
Eat 5 Star Do Nothing
Well, there's nothing wrong with the advertisement nor it affects anyone sentiments and the ad doesn't says that don't respect elders. The company tried to put this advertisements in a humorous way but somehow it lead to the criticism by the reckless public and irresponsibility towards the elders.
Humours can be interpreted differently between all human beings, some find it funny but some may find it offensive. Now, coming to my point of view, this advertisement is purely based on fun as you can see from the story-line itself. You can also think it as, when you your favorite chocolate and while eating it do you get lost in other world? No, right same is the case with this Eat 5 Star. Do Nothing Ad.
Moreover the advertisement doesn't promote disrespecting of elders, as when the young boy was asked to pick by the stick he responded by saying Ji Maaji, which clearly meant he wanted to help the old lady with the stick but as he took the first bite of the chocolate he got lost in its taste and forgot that someone asked for his help.
You might have also watched Suresh and Naresh comedy show, the character played by them is full of stupidity which falls under funny to some individuals and to some of you won't find it entertaining. So, this is clearly new form of advertisement options the company was looking for with the #Eat a 5 Star and Do Nothing.
